In 2021, the European Commission presented the Digital Decade, its vision for a sustainable and socially just digital Europe. It is regarded as the digital compass with which the EU is seeking to secure its digital sovereignty in the current decade and expand it globally.

The European Commission’s Digital Decade has four core areas:

  • digital skills
  • digital transformation of business
  • digital public services
  • digital infrastructure

The digital transformation of business and society

As a think tank, the Vodafone Institute sees the digital transformation as the most profound global transition of the 21st century. Social and political participation and economic growth in addition to the quality of life, work and communication are all directly linked to access to the digitally networked world.

In our field of focus Digital Economy, we address issues like
